Ranked and practice mode

What the difference is, which one to pick, and why ranked is limited.

Every mock can be sat in one of two modes.

RankedLink to the section: Ranked

Counts towards your leaderboard placement and your score history. Sat under strict conditions: one attempt per form, ever, and one ranked start per track per 24 hours.

Those limits exist because a leaderboard where people re-sit the same form until the number looks good is not measuring anything. See One ranked attempt per form and The 24-hour ranked cooldown.

PracticeLink to the section: Practice

Does not count towards ranking. Use it when you want to work through a form without the attempt being permanent — or when you know you are going to be interrupted.

Which to pickLink to the section: Which to pick

If you are sitting it properly, under real conditions, with the time set aside — ranked. That is what the score band is calibrated against and what makes your percentile mean something.

If there is any chance you will stop halfway, practice.
